Ian Schiller manages Hawaiian field operations, including pongamia orchards on Maui and Oahu, as well as Terviva's Oahu nursery. He takes great satisfaction in developing and testing new methods of growing and caretaking resilient pongamia trees.
Ian is passionate about TerViva’s mission to plant millions of trees to feed billions of people. He has been an integral team member since joining TerViva in 2016. Ian’s background is in mechanical, fluid, electrical and structural systems. Ian has a fine sense of detail, honed from his previous roles as a fine cabinet carpenter and a hydroponic garden designer.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from the University of South Alabama with a concentration in genetics, where he participated in a university program at Dauphin Island Sea Lab. In his free time, Ian explores the jungles and mountains of Oahu. When not working with plants for TerViva, Ian can be found elbow deep in dirt, gardening a variety of food and ornamental plants of his own.
