Klaus Dragull is responsible for expanding analytical capabilities at Terviva. He is fascinated by how plants synthesize a wide range of specialized chemicals and inspired by how pongamia can contribute to a cleaner environment while being a profitable and sustainable resource.
For the past decade Klaus has conducted phytochemical research for various initiatives, including in collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry at Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic; with citrus, almonds and pistachios at the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service; and on wine in private industry in California.
Klaus discovered new alkaloids in the South Pacific kava plant during graduate studies earning his PhD at the University of Hawaii. He earned an undergraduate degree at the University of Giessen in Germany and has also lived in Kobe and Nagoya, Japan. In his spare time, Klaus enjoys hiking, photography and spending time with family.
