Tom has twenty years of experience in agriculture commodities and land economics. Early in his career, he worked with private client and institutional investors as a commodities trader, both on Wall Street and through his own investment firm. In 2005, Tom co-founded a private consulting enterprise specializing in conservation finance. He identified private, state and federal conservation incentive programs to bridge the gap between public conservation initiatives and the goals of private landowners. He has a double degree from the University of California at Berkeley in Finance and Real Estate & Land Economics.
Tom retired from TerViva as a Vice President in April 2019 and now serves as an advisor to the company.
