Energy grows on pongamia trees
Pongamia is scaling to meet a critical energy need.
Terviva is scaling a regeneratively-grown feedstock that meets a high bar for both sustainability and viable economics. Our high-yield pongamia trees produce substantially more oil per acre than soy, with a low carbon intensity near that of used cooking oil.
Pongamia is a reliable, drop-in feedstock for both renewable diesel (“RD”) and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (“SAF”).
Because RD is a replacement or complement to petroluem diesel, fleets switching to RD don’t need to modify equipment nor worry about performance. Similarly, SAF is certified for use in today’s aircraft engines and infrastructure. Adoption of both RD and SAF is critical to help decarbonize the transportation sector.
“Drop-in” ready
Terviva’s crude pongamia oil seamlessly integrates with most existing refining infrastructure (FAME/HVO). With multiple supplying regions and exclusive IP and quality standards, our oil is inherently low in common contaminants such as phosphorus, sulfur, and calcium.
ISCC-certified
Terviva is currently selling ISCC EU and ISCC+ certified feedstock from wild-harvested pongamia beans, while our planted orchards reach maturity. Partners interested in an traceable supply chain, and/or the carbon credits from tree plantations, are reserving their tree stock now.
High impact
The ~80% GHG reduction potential compared to fossil fuel is just the beginning. Pongamia revitalizes distressed soils, “sinks” carbon, and promotes conservation efforts around the world.
